from computer drive to physical, fine art display – transforming your wedding photographs into a beautiful bespoke fine art wedding book or matted album

I firmly believe that getting images you love into print is something you will never regret, will enhance your memories and bring you immediate, accessible and continued pleasure as the years roll by.  It will also ensure that the special memories in your family life will extend into your children’s lives and the generations ahead.

These days we are all time poor, and many of us think we’ll have the time to create an album of our wedding photographs – getting them off our usb sticks and hard drives and into print, but so often after your wedding, life takes over and it is still on the to do list years later.

As well as having the high-res, print-ready digital image files from your wedding day – which are included as standard if you commission me to photograph your wedding day and are great to have for making copies, sharing and to know you have the rights to as part of your family archive – a wedding album or book is something really unique and beautiful that I can produce for you.

It also means that neither you, nor your children or their children or their children’s children! will be scrabbling about on old and possibly inaccessible hard drives in the years to come searching for your wedding images when they want to look at them, show others or use them.  A beautiful fine art wedding book or album will, as an object in itself, become a treasured family heirloom that need only be taken from the shelf at a moment’s notice to view and enjoy.

Both wedding books/albums I offer are square in format which I find most people prefer as it is both easy in the hand and lap, a versatile format to display all kinds of images, and just very visually pleasing being neither too grand but more subtle and sophisticated.

I offer two types of display for wedding albums – a fine art book and a fine art matted album. The difference between the two types of display are that the matted albums have mats (or boards) overlaid on the images to create a very traditional wedding album look. The pages are therefore thicker and the resulting album bigger and has more weight and bulk.

Both have images that are printed directly onto the page – the fine art inkjet method – which creates a beautiful smooth and rich matte result. The paper is thicker than the average fine art photography book and the printing is archival.  Folio albums who produce these albums pride themselves on the faithfulness to the original colours and the incredible sharpness of the printing result due to the ink pigmentations they use and the latest state of the art printing methods.

Folio albums are definitely leading the way and the cutting edge of wedding album design and production in the UK now. Of course it is great to both support a UK company who care for the environment and tick all the boxes, but also they are just the most beautiful albums and the company is incredibly friendly with nothing being too much trouble. Folio albums really do understand photographers and want to get everything  perfect just like we do for our wedding couples and families.

Below are images to showcase the the fine art books along with some more reasons to choose a Folio album to create a beautiful record of your wedding day:

The first spread (see above left) can incorporate some text if you wish. Wedding couples often choose to include their names, the date of the wedding and the locations, with or without images, above or below the text. Sometimes wedding couples include a dedication at the top of the left hand page. Any text is possible and we help you to get this just right for you and your wedding.

London corporate headshot photographer

Keith recently got in touch looking for some up-to-date portraits primarily for his business purposes. Keith’s work takes him all over the world on a weekly basis, hence he needed strong portraits that would appeal internationally.

We established that ideally he needed a more formal traditional corporate-style headshot where he was suited with tie, and one where he was more relaxed in attire that would serve less formal business needs and social media platforms. Both scenarios needed to have expressions of relaxed and engaged warmth and ones denoting a little more gravitas.

As is always the case with my adult headshot photography sessions, our shoot was very relaxed and unpressured. Although the images are constructed and my subject is obviously aware of me photographing them, most forget any nerves or reticence they may have felt about having their picture taken soon after their arrival because I am very good at what is a large part of the success of taking good portraits, simply getting your subject to relax have fun and be themselves.

Apart from working hard to create a relaxed environment and really focussing on making everything easy and fun, the other key ingredients to successful headshots is in the briefing and preparation help I give, and then in the post-production work both of which are very much part of the portrait photography service I provide.

Headshots sessions tend to take place during the day on weekdays but can be booked at weekends and in the evenings in the summer months –  which suits a lot of working professionals  – and can produce some lovely results when the sun lowers in the sky.

Having a strong flattering and relevant portrait of yourself that you really like and that you can pull out at any given moment is a very useful thing to have these days in our world of websites, facebook, twitter, linkedin, wattsapp, instagram etc. So pretty much whoever you are –  part of a big corporate company, running a small business of your own or perhaps an artist or budding performer, most of us make our connections and first impressions online these days and putting a beautiful but real face to the name is really key.

Successfully having your portrait taken is nearly always a real boost to your self confidence, and I really believe the whole process helps you to re-aquaint yourself with how you appear and present yourself to the world  – both professionally and personally.

To find out more please get in touch. I’d love to hear from you.

Treat your family to a photoshoot this spring, summer or autumn – the perfect Mother’s Day gift

Mother’s Day is almost upon us (Sunday 11th March) and what better present than a family photography session that can take place on a weekday for baby or pre-school age children, at weekends for children who are at school, or at any time during the school spring, summer, autumn and winter holiday periods.

All sessions take place in and around your home, or at a location special and meaningful to you. There are no time restrictions with your session and  you don’t have to pack up toys and snacks and bundle the kids into the car because I come to you. This makes everything super relaxed for you and because the children are in a location which is familiar to them they really can be themselves. My aim is that the photography will be something that is happening in the background of your family time together, not a performance. I work hard over a morning or afternoon shooting naturally while you get on with doing whatever you love to do as a family. Most clients remark that they had a rare and lovely time together without the distractions of day to day life and devices.

My aim is to produce a whole variety of images, from group family photographs to individual portraits of your children, siblings together and natural but beautiful images of you interacting with your children that both you and they will love to look back on in later years.

Grandparents are always welcome and this can be a lovely thing as part of a Mother’s Day gift to get the generations together and to provide gifts for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, landmark birthdays and Christmas for mothers, fathers grandmothers and grandfathers.

Session vouchers can gift wrapped and sent to you ready to give with your personal note – and included in your session fee with each client who books a session with me this year are 2 10×8 inch archival ready to frame prints.

We will be offering the same for Father’s Day – Sunday June 17th – which will sort that ‘impossible to buy for men issue’ and ensure a gift that will have longevity and give pleasure for years to come.

To find out more, please get in touch and we can arrange to send you your family photography session voucher with your personalised note ready for Mother’s Day.
