Photography can trick us sometimes. As I was taking these I was immediately reminded of similar 1950s documentary street photographers and the advent of black and white reportage photography with its obsession with capturing fleeting moments from everyday life… ‘to capture the sublime in the everyday’.
So when I came to processing these them I couldn’t resist to give these a bit of a filmic treatment, even though in reality they were shot on a high end digital camera last week in Chelsea.
They say nothing is new in photography now, but anything is possible. And that’s half the fun of digital capture and post production – the creativity that a skilled professional can bring to your photos not only on the day but afterwards to create something really special that you will want to display in your home – a picture of your child at a certain moment in their childhood but also a beautiful image in it’s own right that will never date.
