Part 2: Birthday party photography in Hampshire: Richard’s 70th celebrations

For today’s post, part 2 of Richard’s 70th birthday celebrations in Hampshire, on the first day of this heatwave we are finally enjoying –  although yesterday I was shooting for 10 hours in soaring temperatures at the Hampton Court Flower show for the RHS. What an amazing feast of colour on every level that was, and more on it later when I’ve cooled down!

Richard’s 70th Birthday party was a very elegant but relaxed coming together of family and friends.  My brief was to be a quiet observer  capturing the story and spirit of the occasion – which is exactly what I love to do with event photography.   A champagne reception was held in the stunning gardens followed by a sit down lunch in a white marquee set in the adjacent meadow.  Very funny and very heartfelt speeches, (especially from Richard’s two sons), a fabulous Jazz trio with dancing followed by tea and gorgeous cakes made by friends.

I will post the family photographs I captured at this event tomorrow – a mini triple family photo shoot towards the end of the day when the light was lower and lovely.

If you would like me to capture a special event you are planning, please do get in touch. I’d love to hear from you.
