Some people in life are just a pleasure to meet and spend time with and last week I had the good fortune to photograph one such person – the much loved presenter of Radio 5 Live’s breakfast show Shelagh Fogarty.
Maybe it’s because we were born in the same year, or because we are both youngest in large families, or share a strong independent streak – I dunno - but whatever it was we were off: chatting away for England (and Ireland) and darting around all manner of subjects as we went walkabout around Richmond park. And we just about remembered to shoot a few pictures along the way…
As all those who have woken up to Shelagh over the past seven years will know, she has that winning combination of intelligence, humour, insightfulness and warmth – the sort of person who can make a connection with anyone from any walk of life and secure their trust within minutes. And if that isn’t the sign of a natural journalist I don’t know what is.
Even more of us will now be enjoying Shelagh presence over the airwaves as she makes the move over to Radio 5 Live‘s lunchtime slot next week.. I for one will be poised and ready to listen in. Thank you Shelagh for a lovely few hours in your company.
